چکیده

Two decades ago, it seemed timely to capture the interest of Dermatologists in adipose tissue. The functions of adipose tissue were summarized at that time (Table 1). Of special interest was the role of blood supply and lymphatic drainage. Sergio Curri in Milan was showing a similar interest as was the cosmetic industry, gripped by the marketing potential of cellulite. L’Oreal brought us together, and the result was a monograph on “Cutaneous Adipose Tissue” (1). This publication and a later update (2) emphasized the special features of the cutaneous organ.

Effects of 4 week endurance training on PGC-1α expression in adipose tissue, ANGPTL8 serum concentrations and beta cells function of STZ diabetic rats

Background & Objective: Angiopoietin-like Proteins 8 (ANGPTL8) which secreted form adipose tissue due to downstream PGC-1α pathways, is the main factor for regeneration of beta cell. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 4 endurance training program on PGC-1α expression in adipose tissue, ANGPTL8 serum concentration and beta cell function (HOMA.B) in diabetic rats. Materials & ...

The link between lymphatic function and adipose biology.

Despite observations of a link between lymphatic vessels and lipids that date as far back as 300, a link between lymphatic vessels and adipose tissue has only recently been recognized. This review will summarize documented evidence that supports a close relationship between lymphatic vessels and adipose tissue biology. Lymphatic vessels mediate lipid absorption and transport, share an intimate ...

Gold nanoparticles in radiation therapy: an old story yet mesmerizing

Radiotherapy (RT) is generally considered to be one of the most effective cancer treatments. The primary goal of RT is to accurately induce radiation damage to the tumor while limiting radiation toxicity to a level acceptable to normal tissue. This is accomplished by targeting the tumor with radiation. On the other hand, the status of RT procedures as they stand today is not substantial enough ...

Lipid Biology and Lymphatic Function: A Dynamic Interplay with Important Physiological and Pathological Consequences

Lymphatic vessels have been traditionally considered as passive transporters of lipids particularly from the intestine. However, it became apparent from emerging research that lymphatic vessel can play a more extensive role in lipid metabolism than previously realized. Moreover, recent evidence reveal that lipid deposition in the form of white adipose tissue or cholesterol as observed in obesit...
